MLB Recap – 8/5/2017

The Dodgers have won 43 out of their last 50 (that is not a typo) for the first time since 1912 (that is also not a typo) with a 7-4 win over the Mets.

The Cubs snapped a 3-game losing skid with a 7-4 win against Washington. Edwin Jackson has somehow worked his way into the Nationals rotation and took the loss. Overall, Jackson has been much better than in recent years and look for him to continue to eat some innings until the Nationals rotation can get healthy.

Milwaukee edged Tampa Bay 3-0 to keep things tight in the NL Central. St Louis beat the Reds 4-1 to remain in the playoff picture. Cole Hamels threw a complete game in a 4-1 win over Minnesota. Brad Hand continues to show teams why the Padres asked so much for the left-hander as he picked up another save in a 5-2 win over the Pirates.

Justin Upton continues to have arguably his best year of his career with home-run number 21, but the Tigers come up short in Baltimore in a 5-2 loss. Regardless of his contract, Upton’s trade value might be at an all-time high.

Mic’s Picks: Yesterday I went 3-1, for a return of +2.58 units, making me 18-8 overall with a return of +12.1 units.

Today: Reds -104, Mets +143, Braves -122, Indians -113, Orioles -150, Mariners +140, A’s +113
