Jordan Spieth, Matt Kuchar (Kuuuuuuccchhhhhhh) & Brooks Keopka are all tied for the lead after round 1 of the British Open. Pittsburgh continues to play great baseball as they completed the four-game sweep over Milwaukee yesterday. Milwaukee’s lead in the NL Central is just 1 game over the Cubs. Atlanta topped the Dodgers to snap their 11 game win streak. St. Louis blew another game late in a 3-2 loss to the Mets. Baltimore swept Texas in a 4-game series that could play into each teams strategy at the deadline. The Yankees took care of business in Seattle with a 4-1 win. Although it wasn’t a save situation, Aroldis Chapman continued to struggle on the mound. Chapman’s struggles are something to keep an eye on moving forward.
The trade deadline has been very quiet the past couple days. Rumors continue to swirl around Sonny Gray to Houston. Alex Avila is rumored to be moved soon. Will Al Avila trade his own son away? If Avila is moved, look for the Cubs to make a move. Chicago would love to add a back-up veteran catcher that can hit right-handed pitching. As quiet as the deadline has been, expect a lot of moves to happen in the near future. We will be here to keep you posted as the trades start to unravel.
